Saying “Download” or “Upload” when you actually mean “Move”

In its default and standard configuration, Downloading or Uploading files does not destroy the original file. When you download a file from a site, you are being sent a *copy* of the file.

I can’t tell you how many TV shows I see where something is missing from a computer system and the people say something stupid like, “It must have been downloaded …” /facepalm, really?

Idiots.

  1. Oh my goodness, a Thing I actually can agree with! I get similarly irked when commercials beseech me to “log on” to their Website when they really just mean “visit”. To log on implies registration with a username and password, which I presumably do not need to do in order to see all the fantastic deals available at shamwow.com.
